I got my TT Z for 6900 in prime condition, no problems, already had most of stage 3 mods done to it (full exhaust, downpipes, pop charger, racing clutch)
I had it checked out by Z-whizz here in san diego and they said it was the cleanest Z they'd seen priced under 10,000 ever. so don't believe you can't get a good Z for under 7,000.
btw, mine had recent timing belt done, new tires, still stock bodywork and rims brand new turbos and fuel injectors. I've had the car four months, daily driver and the only problem i had was the fan clutch went out.
